 Hello,
We are well on our way in our quest for fun and adventure in this year. We have so many things to do in the coming days that at times I know that we have a tendency to ask ourselves how we are ever going to accomplish all that we need to attend and do. You, my friends, are the answer to that question. You are the reason that I enjoy GWTA as much as I do. I have the distinct honor of being your State Director. I do not and will never take that privilege lightly. All of my friends in this great organization give me back more than I can ever return. I have been blessed by God with a fantastic State Staff that are all dedicated to giving their best to you and to GWTA. One person can not do it by them self’s, it takes a team of dedicated people with a singular goal. That goal is Destination Friendship.
I need to take this opportunity to thank all of your Nebraska GWTA State Staff for their dedication. We, your Nebraska GWTA State Staff, are here to insure that you, the member, have the best experience you can at each and every GWTA function that you attend. The principals of GWTA can at times be so simple that it is hard to grasp. We are all in this club to have fun. It is not a place for personal agendas. Politics should not be a part of what we are about. We are a very diverse group of people and there will be differences at times of how we see things should be done. That should never change our friendship for each other. As long as we all keep this goal of Destination Friendship as our goal this organization of motorcyclists will succeed and flourish. If we lose that goal and personal agendas take priority we will die as a group of friends. That is exactly what I love so much about all of your State Staff. Their agenda is to ensure that they maintain friendships and have fun
Have you considered serving in your own chapter? I will guarantee that if you do volunteer to help in your chapter with some office or task that you will experience more fun than you would have ever imagined. At that point you will also be looking at how much more you are getting out of GWTA then what you are putting in. That has always been a kind of catch 22. How can you give more of your self and get more in return? To me, I get the biggest satisfaction from seeing the smiles of my friends when they are having fun, and when they are enjoying themselves I am having fun. Fun people are just fun to be around. This organization is in need of leaders. That is not to imply that our current leaders are not doing their jobs. What is meant by this statement is that now is the time to exercise your talents to serve as a leader in this organization so that when the time comes you are ready to move into a state, regional or a national position and in return have more fun.
Our National Rally is coming up in July and I know that many of us from Nebraska are planning to go to Billings to celebrate and enjoy friendships of others we have met while we have been members of GWTA and to make new friendships. Since I have taken over as your State Director when we have planned our activities at Gold Rush I have tried to emphasize to all of you that our goal in going to Gold Rush is not to bring home the Spirit Award but to have fun, and I still maintain that. I ask that you do look at the schedule for Gold Rush and pick at least one activity and participate. Pick something that you enjoy doing and have fun. This is your vacation and you need to enjoy it. When we all show up and are enjoying ourselves, then and only then, will we have a chance to bring home the Spirit Award.
Nebraska GWTA, in my opinion, has always been the driving force in GWTA. All of our Nebraska Members contribute a very important part in who and what the rest of the GWTA Nation sees. I am very proud to say that I am a member of Nebraska GWTA.
